The Entrepreneurial C.A.s of London (E.C.A.L.) is an association of Chartered Accountants from the London, Ontario area. Our primary focus is to support public practitioners who are operating in smaller size practice units. Some of our members come from other situations, such as National firms, the insurance industry and education, but the mandate of the group is to provide education, purchasing benefits and a network for assistance to the smaller practitioner.

E.C.A.L. was formed in September 1993. It came about as the result of a request made by some C.A.s who began talking together at a P.D. course. One of those C.A.s, Robert (Bob) Sandford, (who later became the first President of the group) contacted the President of the Western Ontario C.A. Association, Jim Campbell. Jim then directed the P.D. Chairperson, Robert Pilling, to try forming a support group for practitioners in smaller practice units. Jim referred to an article in the May 1993 C.A. magazine which spoke of a similar group that had been formed in Calgary, Alberta. The Entrepreneurial C.A.s of Calgary had formed some four years earlier, and when they were contacted, provided a great outline and suggestion for the format of the group. Basically, our group has been formed in a similar fashion as E.C.A. Calgary, and still retains the name "Entrepreneurial C.A.s" at their suggestion. Many thanks to Doug Ringstrom of Calgary for all his help and suggestions in getting our group organized.
